Accessibility

madcool.dev is built to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. This page records how the site was last checked, what that found, and where to report a barrier.

Last reviewed 3 October 2026

What the latest review covered

  • Every page in the sitemap, and the page shown for an address that does not exist, at 1440 and 390 pixels wide.
  • Each of those pages in all three skins: the default night sky, daylight and wireframe. Motion was off, so nothing waiting to animate in was skipped.
  • The motion control in the site menu and its three stops: full, calm and off. Off stops every animation, and the site starts there when your device asks for reduced motion. The animated headers on the brand pages, Maestro and the build log each have their own pause button.

How it was checked

  • The automated WCAG 2.2 A and AA rules in axe-core.
  • Text contrast measured on the pixels the browser actually paints, wherever text sits over the night sky, a planet or the wireframe grid and an automated checker cannot decide.
  • Every link and control outside running text measured against the 24 pixel minimum target size.
  • A keyboard pass through each page template: the skip link, the order focus moves in, a visible focus ring, the menu on a phone, and opening and closing the SEED console.

Known limitations

  • In the wireframe skin, some small grey print measures 4.4:1 where a grid line runs behind it and 3.6:1 where two lines cross, under the 4.5:1 minimum: dates, reading times and tags on the build log, and the date line on some legal pages. The night sky and daylight skins clear it.
  • In the wireframe skin, the focus ring on a link or card drawn in MadCool Stuff’s blue measures 2.9:1 where it crosses a grid line and 2.4:1 where two lines cross, under the 3:1 a focus ring needs.
  • The floating SEED button in the bottom corner can cover the end of a line while that line is at the bottom of the window. On a phone or tablet that can happen on any page, over as much as 150 pixels of the line. On a wider window it happens where a column runs close to the right edge: up to about 140 pixels at 1024 pixels wide on the build log, Maestro and the brand pages, and a character or two at 1440. Scrolling moves the text clear.
  • The review did not include a screen reader, speech input or screen magnification.
  • The brand sites this network links to are separate sites, and this review did not cover them.
